Chiefs Defensive Tackle Chris Jones Enters Ninth Season with Excitement and Anticipation
Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones is preparing for his ninth season in the NFL, and he's just as excited as ever to get back on the field.
"I still get butterflies," Jones said. "It's just the love of the game. I love playing football, and I love being around my teammates."
Jones has been a key part of the Chiefs' success in recent years, helping them reach the AFC Championship Game in each of the past four seasons and win the Super Bowl in 2020.
He's also been one of the most productive defensive tackles in the NFL, recording 40.5 sacks in his career.
Jones is Excited for New Season with Chiefs
Jones is entering the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, and he's hoping to have a big season in order to earn a new deal.
He's also excited about the Chiefs' chances of winning another Super Bowl.
"We've got a great team," Jones said. "We've got a lot of talent, and we've got a lot of experience. I think we can go all the way."
Chiefs Are Excited to Have Jones Back
The Chiefs are just as excited to have Jones back for another season.
"Chris is a great player," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "He's a leader on our defense, and he's a big part of our success."
Jones is expected to play a major role for the Chiefs' defense in 2023. He'll be counted on to provide pressure on the quarterback and help stop the run.
If Jones can have another big season, he'll help the Chiefs take another step closer to winning another Super Bowl.
